THE ACADEMY AS A MODEL
WE'RE A DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME - NOT A BUSINESS
Movement @ CX (MACX Academy) was developed and established by the NPO Saint Savant as part of its mission to strengthen South Africa’s social and community ecosystems. Among many of Saint Savant’s projects, MACX emerged as a highly successful concept, proving the need for accessible arts education and community-driven development. With its success, the necessary resources were allocated to build MACX into a sustainable and impactful programme. What makes the MACX model work is simple: the entire community is involved. It begins with local schools. Once a school or educational centre agrees to support the program by providing space on their premises and basic internal assistance, the Saint Savant team steps in. Skilled local dancers with professional potential are identified and selected. Saint Savant then provides training, guidance and resources — empowering these dancers to become qualified instructors who earn a sustainable income while contributing to the growth of performance arts in their communities. Parents play an equally important role. Volunteer groups form organically, often including a fundraising committee and event support teams. A dedicated administrative coordinator acts as the central communication hub between schools, families, instructors and Saint Savant. Through this collaborative structure, students gain access to workshops, showcases and competitions — generously supported by industry professionals, community partners and sponsors. The result is a dynamic ecosystem where youth development, creative opportunity and community empowerment thrive side by side.

∎ YUP! THATS HER....
LORCIA COOPER
PROGRAMME DIRECTOR
The legendary SAFTA award-winning actress & dance phenomenon, Mrs Lorcia.K.Cooper is our programme Director and performance art Curator. She is widely known across South-Africa for her numerous roles in film, day-time television, theatre, stage and on the competition circuit. As a National judge she brings invaluable knowledge to not only the young minds that get to benefit from her resources, but the overlooked talent which our trainers finally get to present to the world. By developing the pedagogical, "Train the Trainer" - she leads every prospective instructor on a journey of self discovery, empowers these dancers to step into leadership, transform their passion into a career and make a lasting impact in both the arts and their communities.
What's probably most impressive is that this icon provides her time, energy and complete being from the most gracious part of her heart. She dedicates herself to our cause and takes home not a single cent. Great leaders don’t just guide—they move, inspire, and dance their way to the top!
